Three Incredible Female Artists We Can't Wait To See During SXSW

Girl Power!

It's International Women's Day and we're celebrating in the office by jamming some of our favorite female artists coming to town for SXSW next week! We're lucky enough to have a stacked lineup of incredibly talented women performing at KGSR's Live Morning Broadcasts During SXSW 2018, so here's just a few of the amazing ladies set to grace our stage next week that we're just so thrilled about:

Bishop Briggs

Born in London to Scottish parents but raised in Tokyo and Hong Kong, the now LA-based singer-songwriter had a less than traditional upbringing that greatly influenced her sound and style and inspired her to pursue music; having first sang in public at a karaoke bar in Tokyo. She's now topping the charts with her own unique brand of soulful, genre-bending pop/alt rock songs like "Dream" (which you can stream below) and her breakout 2016 single, "River". Her debut full length album is scheduled for release on April 20th of this year, and we're dying to hear what she has in store! Catch her at our Live Morning Broadcast During SXSW on Thursday at 10:00 AM!

Amy Shark

This Gold Coast, Queensland native grew a passion for music at a very young age - latching on to classics like The Cure, Pearl Jam, and The Police that her parents would play and eventually beginning to craft her own songs, which would lead her to win a local songwriting contest and set her path to indie pop-stardom in motion. We got the chance to meet Amy Shark at our ACL Live Morning Broadcast from Threadgill's last fall, where she played "Adore", the song that started out as minimal acoustic bedroom demo and grew into a cinematic, ARIA award-winning, pop masterpiece that shot her straight into the spotlight in 2016. Catch Amy Shark at our Live Morning Broadcast During SXSW on Saturday at 10:30 AM!

Lucy Dacus

We love Lucy! At only 22, this native-Virginian has already perfected her signature sound; a warm blend of folk-meets-grungy-alt-rock that we can't get enough of. And we're not the only ones falling for her infectious hooks: her debut album famously had over 20 record labels fighting to work with her, a surprising feat for the then 20-year-old who chose to sign with alternative mainstay, Matador Records. We last saw her at KGSR's 26th Anniversary Party in 2016 where she opened for label-mate Kurt Vile, and we're so excited to catch up with her next week about  her newly-released sophomore album, Historian. Watch her new music video for "Addictions" below, and catch her at KGSR's Live Morning Broadcast During SXSW on Saturday at 10:00 AM!
