Wednesday Artist Spotlight: KGSR's Live Morning Broadcast During SXSW 2018

Incase you haven't heard... KGSR's Live Morning Broadcast During SXSW is making its triumphant return to the W Hotel Austin next week to bring you four days of live performances and interviews from over 30 artists! With so many great performers flocking into town for the big fest, trying to check out as many bands in advance as possible and map out the *perfect* SXSW show schedule can be an overwhelming task; which is why we wanted to help out a little by spotlighting three artists performing at our Live Morning Broadcast each day that we KNOW you'll love.

Today we're looking at a few of our Day One performers, who will take the stage Wednesday, March 14th starting at 6 AM. Check out the Facebook event page for more info and the full list of set times!

Pale Waves

Where they're from: Manchester, England
Genre: Indie Pop
When they play: 7:30 AM

These rising UK stars might look like a goth band straight out of the 80's but don't let their visual aesthetic fool you: their sound is sugary sweet, catchy as hell, and will have you dancing all day long. They formed in 2015 while attending university in Manchester and have quickly taken the world by storm, largely through touring with their good friends and labelmates, The 1975. Their debut full-length is in the works for a 2018 release and we can't wait to hear what they have in store. Check out the music video (directed by The 1975's Matty Healy) for their second single "Television Romance" below!

Jade Bird

Where she's from: Hexham, England
Genre: Country/Folk
When she plays: 8:30 AM

We first met the newly-turned 20-year-old English singer-songwriter back in October at our ACL Fest 2017 Live Backstage Broadcast, shortly after the release of her debut EP, Something American, and being named one of Rolling Stone's 10 New Country Artists You Need to Know in 2017. We were instantly charmed by her pop-tinged take on country, perfectly topped with her sweet yet powerful vocals, and she's only continued to wow us since then with the release of her new single and music video for "Lottery", one of our favorite new tracks of 2018 so far.

Barns Courtney

Where he's from: Ipswich, England
Genre: Rock & Roll
When he plays: 9:00 AM

Just a few years ago he was dropped by his label, working at a computer store, and sleeping on friends' couches. And now? He's landing singles on the alternative/rock charts and sharing bills with the likes of Ed Sheeran, The Lumineers, Blur, and The Who. Now that's a success story! And based on his passionate, commanding vocal ability and infectiously energetic live performances, we've got a strong feeling this is only the beginning. He's no stranger to our Live Morning Broadcasts and we're so excited to have him back again.
