Mosser Morning Recap - Thursday July 21
Booze In The News - Austin has been named as one of three emerging American craft beer epicenters, alongside Minneapolis and Asheville, North Carolina by American Craft Beer Dot Com...nice to be here! A recent study has revealed that couples who share the same drinking habits are more likely to stick it out together. You bartenders probably know this, but apparently you can burn yourself pretty badly with lime juice - careful with those margaritas. It's not just Austinites - even monkeys seem to have an affection for the sauce. And, with all this booze news, it's got me wondering - How often do YOU drink? Myself, I've always been in that 4 to 6-day group, a couple of cocktails at a time, slow and steady - but I've recently had to cut back during the week, as I have found that even one beer will tend to wreck my sleep, and with this crazy early schedule, I can't have that. 11am Friday though, watch out! Let us know on our ongoing Twitter poll.
New Star Trek Movie This Weekend! You can catch an early screening of Star Trek: Beyond on that great big IMAX screen at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum TONIGHT (Thursday) - the perfect place for this kind of eye candy. Tickets, while they last, are HERE. This movie marks sad news in Trekdom, as it's the first after the death of Leonard Nimoy, who is soon to be honored in the biopic For The Love Of Spock (trailer below). Even more tragically, this new movie will feature the last appearance of young actor Anton Yelchin as Chekov - as you may know, he died as a result of an accident related to a rollaway defect in his car a few weeks ago, and the word is that J.J. Abrams will not re-cast the character.
KONGOS is coming back to Austin! Even after their recent Float Fest appearance, they can't get enough of our town - they play at Emo's on October 22. As of 10am this morning, there's a pre-sale on for tickets - hit it HERE and use the code EGOMANIAC.
Best Wishes To Evil Wiener. The operators of the local hot dog truck has had their generator stolen for the second time recently. The dogs are even better than the name, so we hope they manage to recover - food trucks typically operate on tight budgets, and make up a major part of Austin's culinary coolness, so please patronize.
Kerbey Lane Does A Solid! Be sure to pop by as often as possible before the end of the month and order a specialty pancake or three - the proceeds go to help Central Texas Food Bank as part of the restaurant's Cakes And Cash Drive, which wraps on July 30.
