We’re grateful that for 27 years, picking up a new volume of our Broadcasts collection on Black Friday has served as a bona fide Austin music tradition. And thanks to you, the Broadcasts series raised over $3 million for our non-profit beneficiaries.
Unfortunately, without our SXSW and ACL live broadcasts and musicians touring through our town, the pandemic made producing and releasing this year’s collection nearly impossible. Even so, we’d love to point you towards our long running partner, The SIMS Foundation– who provides mental health and substance use recovery services and supports for Austin musicians, music industry professionals, and their dependent family members. It’s easy to donate to SIMS on their site. This holiday shopping season, we’d also like to encourage you to shop locally at Austin’s independent record stores and directly with Austin musicians – merchandise bought from the webstore of your favorite artists can help offset some of the losses they’ve incurred from not being able to play live or tour.
And if you’re looking for performances exclusively from our air, allow us to point you to our archive of Virtual Dell Music Lounges- across the pandemic, we’ve hosted virtual performances from Black Pumas, Steve Earle, The Avett Brothers, Matt Maeson and Dawe’s Taylor Goldsmith that can be found HERE.
