New album, new tour dates. The Strokes are set to drop their upcoming album The New Abnormal on April 10th and will be making their way to Austin on May 9th.

It’s been seven years since the alternative rock band released their last full-length album Comedown Machine. But throughout that time, The Strokes kept busy with their own projects. In 2014, frontman Julian Casablancas released an album with The Voidz called Tyranny and dropped their Virtue album in 2018, while Albert Hammond, Jr. released his fourth solo album Francis Trouble.

Just last year the band united for a global tour, performing at multiple festivals like Lollapalooza, Shaky Knees and The Governors Ball. After releasing their two singles “At the Door” and “Bad Decisions” in February 2020, the band announced their new album. The New Abnormal will feature nine songs, including both singles.

It’s been five years since The Strokes performed in Austin at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. This time around they’ll be performing at Germanina Insurance Amphitheater. Tickets to the show go on sale Friday, March 20th at 10am.

Austin City Limits Radio will also be giving out tickets to the show all week long before they go on sale. Tune in at 5pm everyday this week for the chance to win a pair of tickets. Listen for the keyword and text the Austin City Limits Radio studio line at 512-821-0971.
