Gary Clark Jr. Makes SNL Debut

Austin native Gary Clark Jr. made his way to the SNL stage this past Saturday.

The artist prepped for his performance with an intimate show earlier in the week at Antone’s.

Clark sang two of his new songs on the show. First up was his single “Pearl Cadillac.” Clark did not shy away from showing the audience his talent.

The artist then went on to sing “This Land,” which represents the political impact behind Clark’s new album. In an interview with Billboard, Clark stated that he began working on this album around the 2016 election.

“It makes sense for me to pay attention to what kind of world is going on around me, so I can tell my [two young] children what’s happening in it so we can figure out how to maneuver through this thing and make it the best that we can,” said Clark.

Clark’s latest album This Land is due out February 22nd.

The soulful artist will come back to his hometown on March 5th to perform at ACL Live for Season 45 tapings. This will mark his third time performing on the ACL stage. Other artists expected to make an appearance on the television show include The Revivalists, Kane Brown and more
