Local Natives have released a new song called “Nova.” Take a listen below:

Local Natives – Nova (Official Lyric Video)

The band worked on the song while they were in the process of making their latest album Violet Street, but decided to cut the song off the record. However, they loved it enough to release it on its own. When it came to the influence behind “Nova,” Local Natives were inspired by the movie Interstellar and Playboi Carti’s music video for “Location.” The band schemed to sync their song with a specific scene in the film and Carti’s music video. In a press release, the band stated that “Nova” is “about the haze that surrounds you when you first fall in love, the all consuming fantasy of it.”

Now that you’ve listened to the band’s new tune, watch Playboi Carti’s music video below to get an idea of what the band means when they say they’ve synched “Nova” to “Location.”
