KGSR’s Weekend Guide: June 22-24

Weekend Guide

It’s finally the weekend! Whether you like to kick back by the lake, enjoy an awesome brunch before a local shopping spree, or head to your favorite local venue for a live gig, we do our best to hand pick events that we think will fit your lifestyle.

Friday, June 22nd

Multimedia Art Show
6 PM | The Museum of Human Achievement

Go get inspired this weekend with the Andrea Ariel Dance Theatre and Austin artist Yuliya Lanina at their exhibits “Locked-in” and “This is a Test of the Internal Emergency Broadcast,” featuring live music, dance, Soundpainting and animatronic sculpture. “Locked-in” explores the effects of technology on culture, while “This is a Test” focuses on the inevitable and often humorous aspects of human nature – both will be accompanied by live music. Grab your tickets here.

Jaws on the Water
6 PM | Beachside Billy’s

Okay scary-movie buffs, this one’s for you: we’ve all seen (and been emotionally scarred by) the 1975 classic shark-attack thriller “Jaws,” but have you seen it on a big screen with your feet dangling from an inner tube into murky water? Didn’t think so. A ticket to this event includes a custom Jaws on the Water tube, two and a half hours of open Volente Beach Water Park rides and hang-out spots like the Lazy Lagoon and beachside bar, and a fireworks show finale. Meal tickets are also available and will include a barbecue sandwich, one side and chips. This event typically sells out fast, so secure your spot now!

Free Outdoor Movie: Black Panther
8 PM | Mobile Leaves and Fishes Community First! Village

Bring the whole family out to this outdoor screening of Marvel’s Black Panther! The event is free, but $5 donations are appreciated. Burgers, fries, snacks and drinks will all be available for purchase. Dogs are welcome, but must remained leashed, and patrons are encouraged to bring flashlights, bug spray and closed-toe shoes. Check the link above for more info!
