Thursday Artist Spotlight: KGSR's Live Morning Broadcast During SXSW 2018

Incase you haven't heard... KGSR's Live Morning Broadcast During SXSW is making its triumphant return to the W Hotel Austin next week to bring you four days of live performances and interviews from over 30 artists! With so many great performers flocking into town for the big fest, trying to check out as many bands in advance as possible and map out the *perfect* SXSW show schedule can be an overwhelming task; which is why we wanted to help out a little by spotlighting three artists performing at our Live Morning Broadcast each day that we KNOW you'll love.

Today we're looking at a few of our Thursday performers, who will take the stage March 15th starting at 6 AM. Check out the Facebook event page for more info and the full list of set times!

Erika Wennerstrom

Where she's from: Cincinnati, Ohio
Genre: Indie Rock
When she plays: 9:00 AM

She may be gearing up for the release of her debut solo album Sweet Unknown later this month but she's certainly no newcomer: the Heartless Bastards' frontwoman is just stepping out on her own for the first time, and based on the first singles, it's gonna be really great. Written while the band was on hiatus (don't worry, they're not broken up), Sweet Unknown was largely inspired by her time spent in the Amazon jungle and in Texas' own Big Bend National Park where she embarked on an emotional journey in self-healing: breeding a passion that can be deeply felt in the album's lead single, "Extraordinary Love". Sweet Unknown is out March 23rd on Partisan Records, and is available for pre-order now!

Where he's from: Issaquah, Washington
Genre: Indie Pop
When he plays: 8:00 AM

A master of minimal and ethereal pop music with a knack for stunning and powerful videos (see: "Where's My Love" and "Fear of the Water" below), Brian Fennell, similar to Erika Wennerstrom, has also stepped away from his long-time band Barcelona to pursue solo projects, which brought us his second EP as SYML: In My Body. Bouncing from simply stunning piano ballads like "Body", to danceable pop tracks like "Ghosts", In My Body is proof that he can really do it all, and we're so thrilled to get to hear him live next week.

Where he's from: Ann Arbor, Michigan
Genre: Indie Pop
When he plays: 8:30 AM

If infectiously catchy and impossible-not-to-dance-to electro-pop tracks are your cup of tea: you're gonna love Absofacto. The Michigan-native and former alt-rock frontman Jonathan Visner just released his latest EP Thousand Peaces last November, and we can't get enough of it. If there was ever a song that would make you want to get out of your seat and dance at 8:00 AM it's definitely going to be "Dissolve", his latest single that's already clocked in millions of plays via YouTube, Soundcloud, and Spotify. Stream his funky pop track that's been stuck in our heads all day down below!
