The 7th Annual Quesoff is comin'! Anyone can enter, and there's no fee to compete in this celebration of all things melted cheese.
On Saturday, August 26th, around thirty vendors of all shapes and sizes - restaurants and top chefs, as well as home-cooks, neighbors, brothers, sisters - will all go head to head in four categories: Meaty, Spicy, Veggie, and Wild Card. A Best in Show will also be awarded to the overall top queso dish as decided by the esteemed panel of judges.
Doors will open at 2pm and bags of chips will be available for $5. Judges will be announced later this summer. Over the years, the variety of queso on offer has been nothing short of extraordinary, from queso ice cream to tandoori queso to duck mezcal queso and they hope to see even more originals this year.
They've just opened up the call for entries. If you want to compete, email firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up. Be sure to include which category you'd like to participate in. Entries in multiple categories are allowed as well.
Quesoff benefits the Central Texas Food Bank. Entry is free with a donation of two canned goods or a $2 donation per person.
It's a fun, tasty, event for the queso addict, er, enthusiast like me! And all for a good cause.
