More Deaths At A Music Festival. This time it was at the EDM-based HARD Music Festival in Fontana, California. As I always say, I'm Not Your Mama - the kids wanna party at these things, but it's clearly very important to know what you're doing, and to seek help immediately should things start to go wrong at a show. We hear at least one of these deaths may have been due to the delay in medical assistance arriving through the crowded grounds. Party smart y'all.
New Linklater Documentary - Austin elder statesman Louis Black, of the Austin Chronicle and SXSW, has put together a new documentary on the career (so far!) of our own Richard Linklater, whose Slacker was more or less the reason I moved here in the early '90s, and is also the reason I still dress like I'm 14.
Bullock IMAX Gets LASERS! Nothing cooler than fricken lasers, and we hear the IMAX theater at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum is getting them, plus more comfy seating, an expanded concession outlet, and some other cool upgrades.
Rhett Miller Speaks, Because It's Okay To Say. I do love me some Old 97's, and it's impressive to see frontman Rhett Miller taking part in the Okay To Say program, which seeks to eliminate the stigma associated with mental illness. If it's an issue for you or someone you know, it's Okay To Say - talking openly about the problem is the first step toward a solution.
