Mosser Show Notes Thur 11/12: Happy Birthday Neil Young, SIMS Benefit, HAIM Cranks It Up, more

Neil Young turns 75 today! It’s hard for many of us, myself included, not to think of Neil as pretty much having always been 75, being the lovably cranky and crusty fella that he is. The evidence from a 1971 BBC live solo recording is ample that he’s always been pretty curmudgeonly, even in his mid-20’s. Worthy of a full watch! Happy Birthday sir.

Our friends at the SIMS Foundation are throwing a big and important fundraiser with a top-notch lineup of Austin talent, all to help SIMS continue its decades-long mission to help our local music pros with their mental health needs.

The ladies of HAIM venture into slightly heavier sounds for their new tune – and it ROCKS.

Sticking with HAIM, bassist Este Haim is one of the most animated and FUN musicians you’ll find on any stage anywhere, and has earned a nice nod with a signature bass guitar from Fender.

And lastly this thirsty Thursday, behold this year’s rundown of the Top 20 Austin Breweries from the Chronicle! Only a handful here whose wares I’ve not yet sampled (Yokefellow, Hold Out and Meanwhile), and I’ll be taking care of that by Monday.
