We’re struggling through the roughest part of the pandemic in Austin – but there’s plenty of reason to be hopeful that the end is near. Around here, of course, we do a lot of pondering about the 2021 Austin City Limits Music Festival and what it will look like on the slow crawl back to normal this fall. Giving us hope is the announcement yesterday of the dates for this year’s Governor’s Ball festival in New York.

We’re also holding out hope that the 2022 SXSW Festival will see a return of in-person fun – but meanwhile, this year’s virtual affair promises to set a high bar for quality in online engagement. A new dump of details dropped yesterday, including the booking of Willie Nelson for the keynote address.

And finally, today is Dave Grohl’s 52nd birthday! Dave is just a couple of weeks older than me, and has thus become my personal benchmark for the limits of potential cool for dudes our age. I learned also today that Dave is currently the world’s third-wealthiest drummer, ranking only behind Ringo Starr and Phil Collins.
