From the Vault is an archive collection of past performances and interviews with your favorite artists and bands. Throw it back with Austin City Limits Radio every Thursday and relive some of the best moments from Dell Music Lounges, SXSW, and ACL Fest.

The 1975

We caught The 1975 as they experienced their big break in 2014 with their album The 1975.

Lead vocalist Matthew Healy (whose birthday was this week!) and lead guitarist Adam Hann joined us at our Live Morning Broadcast during SXSW to play an acoustic rendition of their popular singles “Sex” and “Chocolate.”

In more recent news, the band released their newest single last Friday “Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America” featuring vocals from singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers. Their upcoming album, Notes on a Conditional Form, is on the way, but you’ll need to wait a little longer as the band announced on March 30th that the release of the album is pushed back yet again to May 22.

Jason Isbell

Back in 2016, Jason Isbell stopped by our live KGSR Music Lounge for an interview and a full performance of his hit songs “Speed Trap Town,” “Something More Than Free,” “Different Days,” and “24 Frames.” Keep an eye out for his newest album with the band The 400 Unit, Reunions, coming May 15 this year. You can already listen to singles “What’ve I Done to Help,” “Be Afraid,” and most recently, “Only Children,” released on March 27, from the record.

CHVRCHES

Synth-pop band, CHVRCHES, performed the track “Leave A Trace” from their sophomore album, Every Open Eye, live at our Live Morning Broadcast during SXSW in 2016.

After you listen to their sensational performance from the SXSW Morning Broadcast, check out their exclusive live stream performance known as the “separate but together version” of their song “Forever” from their 2018 album Love is Dead. The band went live earlier this week, but in case you missed it, CHVRCHES shared the video to their YouTube and social media pages. The band is also set to tour with Halsey this summer starting in Seattle and concluding in Boston. You can grab tickets to their shows at  www.manicworldtour.com.

Houndmouth

Houndmouth made their way back to Austin in 2015 and we enjoyed an exclusive performance of “Sedona” during ACL Fest.

Since then, the band has experienced change with Katie Toupin leaving and the addition of Graeme Gardiner and Drew Miller on dual saxophones. Houndmouth sound continued to evolve with the release of their third album, Golden Age in August 2018 and most recently the EP California Voodoo, PT. II in 2019.

Adele

Grammy Award winner Adele dropped in to the Dell Music Lounge to share a stellar performance of her hit single “Chasing Pavements.”

At the time, Adele was on tour in Austin to support her record smashing third studio album, 25. Unfortunately due to the taxing effects of touring, Adele was left with vocal cord damage and it was suggested that she take a 10 year absence to recover and to also raise her son. That didn’t last long, however, the English singer-songwriter confirmed in February that you can expect to see new music in September 2020! We can’t wait to see what she’ll be bringing to the table next.
