Fresh Music Friday: Florence + The Machine, Gorillaz and more!

Damon Albarn of Gorillaz

Happy Friday! It’s almost time to kick back, relax and unwind from another hot summer week with some fresh new tunes. We’ve rounded up the best new music you need to get your weekend started off right – check out these brand new albums from some of our favorite artists:

Gorillaz – The Now Now
Our beloved cartoon rockers just released their sixth studio album, “The Now Now,” and it’s a bubbly, surreal record that’s “very sort of in the world of 2-D,” according to front man Damon Albarn. “The Now Now,” which features cameos from George Benson and Snoop Dogg, is a quick follow-up to the band’s last album “Humanz,” and was born while the group was still on tour, which shows in its easy simplicity and cohesiveness. Manchester Orchestra – The Black Mile Demos
Atlanta indie group Manchester Orchestra released an LP today of uncut studio recordings named “The Black Mile Demos,” which features mainly acoustic guitar and front man Andy Hull’s insane, unedited vocals. Give the beautiful project a listen:

Florence + The Machine – High as Hope
It finally happened! Florence + the Machine have released their long-awaited fourth studio album, “High as Hope.” The album is light and airy, especially in comparison to Florence’s ever-powerful and stunning vocals, with a few ethereal, big-sounding tracks like “Patricia” and the epic, previously-released “Big God.” With an album like this, let’s not ruin it with words – just give it a listen for yourself:
