It’s finally the weekend! Whether you like to kick back by the lake, enjoy an awesome brunch before a local shopping spree, or head to your favorite local venue for a live gig, we do our best to hand pick events that we think will fit your lifestyle.

 

Friday, June 15th

B Scene: Summer Down Under
6 PM | The Blanton Museum of Art

Come celebrate the opening of The Blanton’s new exhibition “Ancestral Modern: Australian Aboriginal Art from the Kaplan & Levi Collection,” a vibrant collection of artworks by some of Australia’s leading Aboriginal artists, while enjoying performances from Will Taylor + Strings Attached, DJs Butcher Bear & Soundfounder of Exploded Drawing, as well as food, drinks and a guided tour of the exhibit. Be sure to enter your name in the drawing at the museum shop for a chance to win art-inspired prizes. B Scene: Summer Down Under is bound to be a good time – filled with art, music, food and fun! Saturday, June 16th

 

Mobile Mac & Cheese Fest
11 AM | Fareground   

Cure your Friday-night hangover with the Mobile Mac & Cheese Festival this Saturday morning! Guests will be guided through a tour of four restaurants that will serve up their take on the American classic + an alcoholic beverage. Attendees will also receive early bird access to tickets for the official Mac & Cheese Fest in November. This popular event is expected to sell out soon, so grab your tickets now!

 

Juneteenth Celebration
12 PM | George Washington Carver Museum 

Celebrate this historic holiday with live music, a petting zoo, bumper soccer, carnival games, crafts and more at the Juneteenth Celebration hosted by Austin Parks and Recreation. Guests can expect free ice-cold watermelon, character reenactments, vendors like Melanated Marketplace and live performances by the Greater Houston All-Star Marching Band and Soultree Collective!

 

Frida Friday ATX
6 PM | Tamale House

What says “Austin” better than tamales, an artisan market and live music all in one place? Check out Frida Friday ATX this weekend – a monthly marketplace celebrating and empowering women of color. The event will feature plenty of food, drinks and live music from DJ Mahealani. The Mercado itself will include hand-made jewelry and body products, vintage pieces and plenty of artwork – all created by female artists! Don’t miss this special chance to celebrate one of Austin’s most vibrant communities with this “movement for gender and economic justice.”

 

International Day of Yoga 
5:45 PM | Texas State Capitol

Though the official International Day of Yoga isn’t until June 21st, Austin is celebrating a little early this weekend with a massive free yoga event on the lawn of the Texas State Capitol on June 16th! Presented by the Art of Living Austin, the event will include 90 minute Yoga asanas, peace meditation, live music, and more! Find more info on the annual event on the Facebook event page

10 AM | Color Me Mine

Father’s Day Beach Bash
9 AM | NLand Surf Park 

This Father’s Day, take your dad to the ultimate place for summer fun! NLand Surf Park will be hosting an all-day, family-friendly event with waves, tubing, brews, burgers, live music and crafts for the kiddos. All levels from surfing-pros to first-timers are welcome to come ride the waves. Snag your tickets here!

 

Indiana Jones Drive-In Screening
8:50 PM | Blue Starlite Drive-In 

What better way to end your weekend with Dad than at the Drive-In watching Indiana Jones defeat the Nazis? See the film from the comfort of your own car, plus BYOB for 21+ movie-goers! This show is coming to Blue Starlite Drive-In for one night only – so hurry and grab your tickets before they’re gone!
