Tom Petty Sixty-Song Posthumous Set Coming in September

Tom Petty

The last two days have been huge for Tom Petty fans (AKA everyone). According to an announcement made yesterday on SiriusXM’s Tom Petty Radio, a box set of unreleased music by the late singer will be released to the public in the Fall, compiled by Petty’s daughter, wife, former engineer and other Heartbreakers members Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench. The set, named “An American Treasure,” will feature recordings spanning Petty’s entire career and covers of songs from other artists. This morning, Reprise Records shared the full details of the set, plus an exclusive video and full track list, via Petty’s website; “American Treasure” will be available in a 2-CD set, and deluxe 4-disc and 6-LP versions. The Super Deluxe Limited Edition will feature an 84-page book complete with photographs, an essay and original, handwritten lyrics by Petty himself. Also posted to Petty’s website this morning is the first released single from “An American Treasure,” “Keep A Little Soul,” from Petty’s studio sessions with the Heartbreakers for their 1982 record “Long After Dark.”

Watch “Keep A Little Soul” below, and mark your calendars for September 28!
