Muse frontman Matt Bellamy released his second solo song, “Tomorrow’s World” with a visual accompaniment.

Like many artists, this song was inspired by this season and impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s an optimistic song about the possibilities of the unknown future and the comfort of nostalgia.

In a statement, Bellamy said the single “captures my mood and feelings whilst in lockdown. I have been reminded of what really matters in life and have discovered growing optimism, appreciation and hope for the future.”

He went on to say the title was inspired by an childhood favorite television show Tomorrow’s World. Back then it made imaginative predictions of what life would be like now, and it enthralled ’80s Bellamy.

He continued, “It all seems rather lovely, comforting and naive in retrospect and reminds me that none of us ever really know what the future holds.”

In the lyric video a few of his ’80s nostalgia influences leak out. On what looks to be a phone camera on portrait orientation, the screen is edited to make a kaleidoscope effect and the video gradually introduces color until it’s over saturated. Watch “Tomorrow’s World” below and stream the track on Spotify.
